A sad day for the entire Saints family...

On 8/8/12, the entire nation suffered a terrible loss when one if it's true heroes was killed in Afganistan.  US Army Major Thomas Kennedy, a former Saint, a Don Bosco player, and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point was taken from us far too soon by a suicide bomber.  He left behind a wife, Kami and nearly 2 year old twins, Brody and Maggie. He also leaves behind two brothers John and George, as well as his parents George and Pat -- all of whom spent many years as vital parts of the Saints organization.

But what Major Kennedy (affectionately called TK by his loved ones) also left behind was a legacy of pride, love, and sacrafice to his country, his family, and the sport of hockey.  His is a legecy that every boy and girl who puts on a Saints jersey should learn about.  Many former Saints have risen to great heights both within the sport of hockey and outside of it.  But I'm not sure that any have ever risen to the heights of being an American Hero.  We lost our hero this week.  We will never forget you TK.

For those looking to help the family a fund has been set up for the children.  Please visit the link below:

Major Kennedy’s wake will be Thursday August 16 from 5-8 pm in West Point NY, and his funeral is Friday August 17 at 10 am at the West Point Cadet’s chapel.

Please keep Tom and the entire Kennedy family in your thoughts and prayers….
