Saints 2021 Recap - 10 teams to League Playoffs!!

Saints Dominate in Playoff Hockey!

 
We are extremely proud to announce that the Saints sent 10 teams to League Playoffs this past weekend, advancing
8 to the Championship game and winning 5 League Championships.  Congratulations to the following teams:

 
Girls 14U AA – MAWHA Invitational – NJ Finalist – Coaches Randy Velischek, Chris Crosby, Frank Miller,
Robert Schweitzer, Mike Osinga, Steve Tuttle and Manager Linda Victor – Beat Princeton Black 3-0 and NJ Colonials 1-0, then beat the NJ Devils in the semis 3-0.  This put them in the Championship Game, in which they lost to the Princeton Orange team by the score of 3-2.
 
Girls 16U AA – MAWHA Invitational – NJ Finalist – Coaches Steve Tuttle, Brian Hamilton, Alex Landolina and Manager Laura Caldera – Beat the NJ Titans 7-0 and NJ Rockets 4-0, then beat the Rockets in the semis 3-0. 
This put them in the Championship Game, in which they lost to the NJ Colonials in overtime by the score of 4-3.
 
10U Major National – AYHL Finalist – Coaches Sean Foye, Robert McDermott, Scott Grossman and
Manager Stu Beswick - Lost first game to the Valley Forge Minutemen 7-2, beat the NJ Colonials 7-1, and beat the Mercer Chiefs 3-1, earning them a rematch with an impressive Valley Forge team in the Championship game.  This game was back and forth, but the Saints never let up.  They eventually lost 8-6 with an empty netter at the end.
 
12U AA Blue – EJEPL 11 U Diamond Champions – Coaches Jim Fortescue, Randy Velischek, Matt McMorrow, John Pinotti and Manager Nicole Kushner – Beat the Jersey Colts 5-1 and Ashburn, VA 4-2 putting them in the
Championship game against Jersey Shore, beating them by the score of 4-1.
 
14U Minor American – AYHL Champions – Coaches Paul Giblin, Larry Mahurter, Craig Jennings and Manager Seth Gusler – Lost to the Jr. Titans 3-2, beat the NJ Colonials 3-1, and beat the CT Chiefs 8-7 in a shootout, earning them a rematch with the NJ Colonials in the Championship game, winning 6-1.
 
14U Major National – 3rd place finish AYHL – Coaches Joe Belger, John Champion and Manager Scott Pomerantz – Beat Valley Forge Minutemen (MyHockey ranking of 17) 2-1, beat NJ Avalanche 3-2 (ranked 13),
and lost the Colonials (ranked 6th) 4-1.
 
15U National Elite – AYHL Champions – Coaches Phil Stevens, Frank Miller and Manager Adam Engelman - Beat the Jr. Titans 6-3, earning them a berth in the championship game against the Colonials, beating them by the score of 6-4 (empty netter) in double overtime.
 
16U American – AYHL Champions – Coaches Alex Shindelman, Shawn Osinga and Manager Rob Goldstein – Beat the Avalanche 1-0 and the NJ Devils 4-2 earning them a rematch with the Avalanche in the Championship game.  The end result was the same as their first game, however it took them an overtime period to come away with the hard fought 1-0 shutout win.
 
16U National Elite – AYHL Champions - Coaches Andrew Frey, Mark Presinzano and Manager Tom Hilliard – Beat the CT Chiefs 4-2 in this single elimination playoff, advancing to the Championship game against the Washington Little Capitals, winning 3-2.
 
18U National Elite – 4th place finish AYHL – Coaches Joe Belger, Alex Shindelman, Shawn Osinga and
Manager Rob Goldstein – Lost to the NJ Colonials 3-1 in this single elimination playoff.
 
Congratulations to all players, coaches, managers and parents for your dedication and commitment this season. 
We know it was a difficult season for all.  We are proud of you!!!
