Player Agreement Process - 2020-21 Season

Dear Ramapo Saints Families:

First and foremost, it is our sincere hope that all of you are well and have been able to keep your families safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic that has plagued the world.  It certainly has changed our everyday lives dramatically.  We owe a significant amount of gratitude to the First Responders, Healthcare Workers and all Essential Workers, not only within our organization, but everywhere.  Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

All of you should have received an email from Glenn Hefferan, President of the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) over the weekend regarding the revised Player Agreement Process for the upcoming season.  As a member of the Atlantic Affiliate of USA Hockey, we will be abiding by these guidelines in its entirety as we navigate our way through this time.  Since the leagues in which we are members include organizations from many states which will be “reopening” at different times, you can expect adjustments as the situation continues to improve in our immediate area.  As all of this is new to us, you can be assured that we will be abiding by all CDC guidelines throughout the entire process.  The well-being and safety of all of our players, families and staff are of paramount concern to us.

To summarize, our Player Agreement process will be as follows:

1.      The Ramapo Saints will be issuing contracts to our Tier I players via email, which will include an online registration, effective Monday, June 1, 2020.  Only those players registered for our tryouts through our website will receive a contract.  You must register and pay the tryout fee.  The deadline to register for tryouts will be May 18, 2020.  If selected, the fee will be applied towards the tuition for the 2020-21 season.  Once the emails are distributed to selected players, you will have 48 hours to complete the registration.

2.      If you registered for Tier I tryouts and are not selected for a Tier I team, your fee will be applied towards the Tier II tryouts and you will not be charged an additional fee.

3.      The Ramapo Saints will be issuing contracts to our Tier II players (Girls and Boys teams) via email, which will include an online registration, effective Thursday, June 11, 2020.  Only those players registered for our tryouts through our website will receive a contract.  You must register and pay the tryout fee.  It is our intention to hold tryouts once we have received notification that the rink is allowed to open, but the contracting of players electronically will allow us to significantly reduce the number of players in the rink once open, as those selected June 11 th will not be required to attend and your fee will be applied towards tuition for the 2020-21 season.  Once the emails are distributed to selected players, you will have 48 hours to complete the registration.

4.      Our Tier I and Tier II Boys and Girls programs were published on March 2, 2020.  Due to the ever changing circumstances that we are facing, there will be adjustments, which most likely require a downward adjustment to the tuition.  The tuition and summary of the current program will be included in the letters distributed June 1 stand June 11 th.  Again, adjustments will be necessary.

5.      Our contract for the 2020-21 season will include a COVID-19 Financial Hardship Refund Policy.  This will be offered to those who experience a COVID-19 related hardship and may be exercised through July 31, 2020. This will be for families whose financial conditions change subsequent to signing our Player Agreements, and on or prior to this date.

6.      The Affiliate’s current Tier I movement policies, and “Tier I – One Team/One Season” policy remains in effect during this Player Agreement process, and you can expect the Saints to abide by it in its entirety.

We know this is not a perfect way to select teams, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate our way through these uncharted waters.  Thank you and please stay safe.

Sincerely,

Joe Brooks
President
Ramapo Saints
