A Veteran's Day Gift

2015-11-12

Purple Heart Recipient and Ramapo Saints Coach Mike Osinga and the Peewee B Blue Team

Peewee B Blue players donate $250 to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of "Coach Mike"...

Coach Mike Osinga thought team manager Lynda Feeley-Calvin called a meeting after practice for the team staff to discuss some recent penalties with his players! The players had an agenda of their own! The team wanted to thank the Purple Heart recipient for service to his country on November 11, Veterans day. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the armed forces of the U.S. who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action.

The team raised $250 to donate
to the Wounded Warrior Project in Coach Mikes name. The Wounded Warrior Project is an organization Osinga supports year round.
Its purpose is:
  • To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.
  • To help injured service members aid and assist each other.
  • To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.
